Reggae and Dancehall outta Jamaica
Conscious Reggae and Modern Roots:
The foundation of conscious music was made by Bob Marley
in the late 60´s. Early Soundsystems like Coxsone Dodd´s
Downbeat and Duke Reid spread di music ina Jamaica.
Di interest of di music grew bigger and bigger and so many many artists and
soundsystems began to voice new tunes.
Today there are thousands of Soundsystems/Artists/Labels who release their riddims and
tunes and it´s di task of a
soundsystem to give di people di opportunity to listen
to di nicest, deepest and toughest tunes.
Dancehall music is di "younger brother" of Reggae. Dancehall riddims differ from Conscious music, cos dem have lot more electronic sounds. The lyrics cope with different topics like bussin guns, sex or di livin ina di ghetto. Sounds like us play dancehall music to mek di people wine and live up.
